To actualize the ideal of educational equity and to meet the needs of exceptional children, this center is established to promote the special education programs in Chiayi-Yulin area, and to enhance teaching and research on special education.
The major missions of this center are as follows:
1). To provide support for teaching and research on special education.
2). To assist the local government in promoting the quality of special education, and in the diagnosis, classification, and placement for exceptional children.
3). To provide consultations, workshops, and seminars on special education.
4). To collect and publish books and periodicals on special education and to promote the development and design of instructional materials for special education.
5). To serve as a network center of special education information resources and provide consultation service for special education educators, parents, and students to improve or solve their problems.
