The center was established for the future development of agriculture and to combine horticulture mechanization and automation. Thus the educational expenditure and resources won’t be overlapped and split. We aim to set up a well-equipped and united practical training center to facilitate agronomic and horticultural businesspersons through “learning-by-doing.” The extension of agricultural modernization as well as the acquisition of practical skills is our main concerns too. We provide the students and teachers of studied fields with an opportunity upgrade our internationally competitive capability.

We provide the following services

(1) Practical training for the students of related fields.

(2) Productive technique, the operation and maintenance of automatic machinery and equipments, and workshops of management etc.

(3) Research and teaching practice for the teachers and students.

(4) Applications and innovatory technology.

(5) Information exchanges for the farmers, manufacturers and corporations.

Recent accomplishments

After restructuring and becoming National Chiayi University, the school has provided support to the Center in many ways including hardware equipment, funding, renovation of greenhouse and equipment. In 2000, Council of Agriculture approved grant of NT 4.5 million for the use on multi-function greenhouse automation system which has be completed and is now in use for teaching, training, and industry cooperative purposes. In 2000, Ministry of Education subsidized NT 5 million as a part of ‘Agricultural Teaching Reform’; along with NT 2 million sponsored by the university, the Center has built Tissue Culture Center’, orchid family plant greenhouse, Bacteria inspection laboratory for healthy seeds . We use biotechnology in agriculture development, and in turn, enhance agricultural industry.

 In 2001, in addition to providing facility for teaching and research, we also offer reception to scholars from various institutions and professionals from related business. In the past year, we have cooperated with professors from various schools to design programs, and offer the program to 2015 people of which include teachers and students from kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, vocational school, college and university. We have also exchanged our program and experience with agronomic groups from Mainland China and other foreign organizations. In the future, we will keep supporting the local education program, and developing programs including horticulture in life for the purpose of educating the public.
