History
The Graduate Institute of Educational Technology was established in 2000 to address the rapid technological advancements impacting education. Its mission is to train professionals skilled in designing, developing, utilizing, managing, and evaluating digital educational resources, reflecting the growing need for technology integration in educational settings.
In 2006, we launched the undergraduate program in the Department of e-Learning Design and Management to meet the increasing demand for IT integration in instruction and professional training. By 2008, we merged both graduate and undergraduate programs into a single Department of e-Learning Design and Management, aimed at fostering expertise for professional development in e-learning fields.
Mission
The mission of the Department of E-Learning Design and Management is to cultivate individuals skilled in creating digital content that effectively employs technology, media, and instructional strategies to convey knowledge and messages for educational and training purposes.
Goals
Undergraduate Program
Our program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively design, develop, and manage digital content for educational and training purposes. With a strong emphasis on both theory and practice, we have established two primary goals for the undergraduate program:
- Designing Digital Learning Content Effectively:
- Apply instructional technology in innovative ways
- Analyze, design, develop, and evaluate digital learning materials
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to create high-quality digital content
- Managing Digital Learning Processes and Adoption Effectively:
- Enhance information, media, and computer literacies through digital learning
- Implement effective strategies for managing digital learning projects
- Successfully launch and promote digital learning products
Graduate program
Our graduate program is structured to enhance students' theoretical foundations and provide them with practical expertise in designing, developing, and managing digital content for educational and training applications. The program is driven by two primary goals:
- Excellence in Designing Digital Learning Content
- Effectively integrating technology to achieve instructional objectives, supported by research on emerging technologies and their impact on learning outcomes.
- Applying proven methodologies to create impactful e-learning content, informed by ongoing research in instructional design and learner engagement strategies.
- Effective Management of Digital Learning Processes and Adoption
- Utilizing best practices in project management for e-learning initiatives, grounded in research that examines the effectiveness of various project management frameworks in educational settings.
- Implementing strategies to facilitate the successful adoption of e-learning tools and practices, guided by research into user experience, technology acceptance models, and change management in educational contexts.
